Anthropic launched a new service on October 8, 2026, called OSS Scanner to help open-source software projects identify security vulnerabilities, The Verge reported. The company stated that participating projects will receive free periodic security scans performed by its strongest artificial intelligence models, including Claude Mythos. [1]
The Verge reported that the security scans are fully automated. Anthropic stated that the output reports sent to open-source developers will be generated entirely by artificial intelligence models without any human review or triage. [1]
Anthropic is a San Francisco-based public benefit corporation founded in 2021 by former OpenAI members, including Daniela Amodei and Dario Amodei. As FTMQ Tech reported earlier, Google recently paused its own open-source security reward program after receiving a surge in submissions generated by artificial intelligence. [2][4]
The automated service aims to help open-source developers learn about potential software security issues faster, according to The Verge. [1]
