Artificial intelligence company Anthropic has updated its policy to forbid users from engaging in sustained and needless abusive or cruel behavior toward its Claude model. CNET, TechRadar, and The Register all report that the company announced the new restriction on Thursday. According to CNET, the rule targets extreme cases of repeated mistreatment rather than ordinary arguments. [1][2][3]

The Register and Digital Trends both report that the update also addresses other critical areas. These include restrictions covering weapons development, surveillance, and election interference or deception. According to BigGo Finance, the company will suspend users who repeatedly abuse the software under the new policy. [3][5][10]

The policy update has sparked online discussion regarding how companies govern human interactions with software models, CNET reports. As FTMQ Tech reported earlier, the abuse rules apply solely to extreme situations and do not restrict normal user frustration or dark creative themes. The Register reports that the new usage rules will take effect on November 12. [1][3][14]
