Apple Intelligence to launch in China with iOS 27.3

Apple will launch its Apple Intelligence features in China starting with the iOS 27.3 update, according to company announcements on its Chinese newsroom website reported by The Verge, 9to5Mac, and MacRumors. The features will first become available in a developer beta set to release on November 4, 2026. A full public launch of iOS 27.3 is planned for December. [1][2][3][4]

The initial rollout will include tools such as writing assistance, notification summaries, visual intelligence, real-time translation, and photo cleaning features, as MacRumors and The Verge reported. However, MacRumors noted that select capabilities, including Siri AI and Image Playground, will not be included in this release. [1][3]

The release follows regulatory discussions in the country. 9to5Mac noted that Apple cleared a major regulatory hurdle in China in mid-July after lengthy discussions with Chinese regulators and multiple delays. [2]

Apple Intelligence relies on a combination of on-device and server processing and was first announced in June 2024. The tools run on custom Apple silicon chips such as the A17 Pro and M-series processors. [7][9]
