The Apple News app is displaying real-time vote totals for the United States midterm elections on iPhone Lock Screens, 9to5Mac reported on November 4. Polls are closing across the country for all 435 seats in the House of Representatives and 35 Senate seats. [1]
Users can monitor the incoming results directly from their Lock Screens using the Live Activity feature, according to 9to5Mac. The publication noted that Apple News has provided similar tracking features during previous recent elections. [1]
The election tracking feature comes alongside other upcoming software events for Apple devices. MacRumors reported that Apple has scheduled an Apple Watch Activity Challenge for Veterans Day on November 11. To earn an award in the Fitness app, Apple Watch users must log any workout lasting at least 11 minutes on that date. [2]
The Apple Watch is a line of smartwatches that features health tracking and wireless telecommunication tools, integrating with watchOS and other Apple products. The device first launched in April 2015. [4]
Major US stock indexes had previously risen ahead of the midterm election, as FTMQ Tech reported earlier. The technology gains coincided with investor anticipation for incoming election updates across Apple devices. [6]
