Google has released software version 6.144 for its Pixel Buds earphone lineup, Android Authority and 9to5Google both reported on Tuesday. The new firmware update is rolling out to the Pixel Buds Pro, Pixel Buds Pro 2, and Pixel Buds 2a models. [1][2]

According to 9to5Google, Dynamic Active Noise Cancellation is exclusive to the flagship Pixel Buds Pro 2. The system automatically adjusts audio levels and noise cancellation based on the user's ear seal, which compensates for subtle shifts when the earbuds move inside the ear. Android Authority reported that the update also introduces a new tap-to-mute action for the microphone alongside enhanced Live Translate capabilities. [1][2]

All other features in the version 6.144 release are available for the original Pixel Buds Pro released in 2022, the Pixel Buds Pro 2 from 2024, and the Pixel Buds 2a from 2025, 9to5Google reported. The release follows a separate software update last month that added Gemini AI control features to the earbud line, according to 9to5Google. [2]

Google initially announced the original first-generation Pixel Buds on October 4, 2017, featuring a fabric-wrapped cable connecting the two earbuds. The product line transitioned to a true wireless form factor with its second-generation model announced on October 15, 2019. [11]
