Google released Android 17 QPR2 Beta 7.1 for Pixel devices on October 16, 2026. 9to5Google and Droid Life both reported that the small update arrived one week after the previous preview software. Android Police and Android Headlines noted that the update addresses multi-second freezing and user interface stuttering issues on Pixel smartphones. [1][2][6][7]
According to 9to5Google, system images for the update are available across several devices, including the Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel Fold, and Pixel Tablet. Owners of supported devices can submit reports about bugs or issues using the Android Beta Feedback app or through the Android Beta community on Reddit. [2]
Android is a mobile operating system developed by Google that was first released in 2008. The software runs primarily on smartphones and tablets. [9]
In separate news regarding Android 17, The Verge and GSM Arena reported that Sony will not deliver the update to its Xperia 10 VI smartphone. The phone launched in May 2024 with Android 14 and a promise of three major operating system updates. However, The Verge noted that a notice on Sony’s UK support website cited a storage issue as the reason for canceling the Android 17 release. [4][5]
