Google has started rolling out version 5.10 of the Google Health app, according to reports by 9to5Google and NewsBytes. The updated version is available immediately on iOS and is currently rolling out to Android users. NewsBytes and 9to5Google both report that the minor update brings three new features across the application. [1][6]
9to5Google reported that the release brings Irregular Rhythm Notifications to Pixel Watch and Fitbit users in Japan. The tool analyzes heart rhythm data in the background while users are sleeping or still, checking for signs of atrial fibrillation. Users in Japan can configure the notification tool through the Health tab inside the app. Additionally, 9to5Google reported that the app incorporates extra metrics to update the Readiness Score. [1]
In a separate update, Lifehacker reported that users now have an improved method to turn off artificial intelligence insights within the Google Health application. This allows users to access Fitbit services without receiving unsolicited coaching messages. [5]
Google Health integrates consumer software, including Health Connect, to aggregate fitness data across devices while employing privacy controls like federated learning. Android software update schedules have historically followed a regular release process managed by Google, with major versions distributed annually. [7][8]
In short
- Google Health version 5.10 is available on iOS and rolling out on Android.
- Irregular Rhythm Notifications for AFib signs are now available in Japan for Pixel Watch and Fitbit users.
- The update includes revisions to the Readiness Score feature.
