Microsoft Chief Executive Officer Satya Nadella has warned that the technology industry must assume all artificial intelligence models are compromised. According to reports from TechCrunch and The Verge, Nadella shared his views in a social media post on X, calling for an emergency brake on advanced AI technologies. [1][2]

TechCrunch and The Verge both report that Nadella argued against treating artificial intelligence as nested black boxes whose advice and actions users simply accept or reject. TechCrunch added that Nadella used the Trump administration's preferred term, super intelligence, and advocated for stepping back to assess the trust architecture of AI. According to TechCrunch, Nadella suggested separating the AI model from the harness that orchestrates its work. [1][2]

The Verge and NDTV Profit reported that Nadella called for timely incident disclosures and system failure reporting. The Verge added that Nadella urged the tech industry to build a more transparent system where AI models can be contained, observed, and leave behind tamper-proof human-readable evidence. [1][4]

Nadella is the chairman and chief executive officer of Microsoft, having succeeded Steve Ballmer as CEO in 2014 and John W. Thompson as chairman in 2021. Before taking over as chief executive, he served as the executive vice president of Microsoft's cloud and enterprise group, where he was responsible for building and running the company's computing platforms.
