Artificial intelligence coding platform Replit has ended its working relationship with Anthropic. Replit chief executive and co-founder Amjad Masad announced the decision on Thursday during an appearance at TechCrunch Disrupt, TechCrunch reported. Masad stated that the decision was driven by several factors, including the cost of using the technology. [1]
The end of the partnership was also reported by UA.NEWS, Unite.AI, The Tech Buzz, Pluang, and Crypto Briefing. Pluang reported that Replit cited both cost and model performance for ending the deal. Masad also stated at the event that he considers ChatGPT to be better now, TechCrunch reported. [1][2][3][4][5][6]
Replit previously announced a partnership with OpenAI in August, TechCrunch reported. However, TechCrunch noted there had been no prior indication that Replit was ending its existing relationship with Anthropic. Replit is now shifting its primary focus toward OpenAI, according to Pluang and The Tech Buzz. [1][4][5]
Replit was founded in 2016 by Amjad Masad, Haya Odeh, and Faris Masad as an online cloud development environment based in Foster City, California. Anthropic is a San Francisco artificial intelligence company founded in 2021 by former OpenAI executives Daniela Amodei and Dario Amodei, and it produces the Claude series of language models. [8][9]
