Intel senior vice president Cho Min-sung announced the Razor Lake-AX platform at a conference in South Korea, according to shattered.io and TechPowerUp. TechPowerUp reported that the executive revealed the chip details at the Semiconductors Powering Humanoids summit in South Korea. The platform is scheduled to launch in 2028 and aims to deliver roughly 700 TOPS of artificial intelligence compute performance. [1][2][3][4][5][6][7]

The chip targets physical artificial intelligence systems, including humanoid robots, according to shattered.io and Digital Trends. Shattered.io reported that the revelation positions the silicon specifically for robotics rather than future laptop computing. Intel has not yet published a formal product brief for the chip, which currently exists as a quote and a roadmap slide, according to shattered.io. [1][3]

According to shattered.io and Digital Trends, the planned 700 TOPS rating provides nearly four times the artificial intelligence compute power of Intel Panther Lake chip. TechPowerUp reported that the 700 TOPS figure applies to INT8 and FP8 precision formats on the die. A system on a chip integrates key computer components, such as a central processing unit and memory, onto a single microchip to improve power efficiency. [1][2][3][8][10]

The Elec and Google News reported that the platform is classified as a robotics system on a chip. Intel has not announced further specifications or release quarters for the upcoming platform ahead of its planned 2028 arrival, shattered.io reported. [1][4][6]
