Netflix walked away from negotiations with Microsoft to license Xbox video game franchises for film and television adaptations, TechPowerUp and Happy Gamer reported. The two companies ended discussions after they failed to reach an agreement on the licensing fee. [1][4]

TechPowerUp, Dark Horizons, and Happy Gamer report that Netflix offered Microsoft 500 million dollars for seven years of exclusive adaptation rights. TechPowerUp and Tbreak UAE report that Xbox countered by asking for 800 million dollars for the seven year deal, which covered its largest characters. According to TechPowerUp, citing the What I am Hearing newsletter at Puck, the 500 million dollar offer was made by Bela Bajaria, the chief content officer at Netflix. [1][2][3][4]
