Developer Rod Burlamaqui has released arc-rebar, a Linux tool that turns on Resizable BAR support for Intel Arc graphics processing units on motherboards that never officially received the feature. TechPowerUp reported the release on October 25, citing a spot by Videocardz, while TweakTown also reported that the Linux workaround enables ReBAR support on older hardware. [1][2]

Intel Arc graphics cards rely heavily on Resizable BAR to achieve optimal functionality. TechPowerUp reported that Intel previously advised buyers of its Alchemist series without Resizable BAR support to purchase hardware from other vendors. TechPowerUp added that its own review of the Arc B580 listed the feature as a requirement for good performance. [1]

Intel Arc is a brand of discrete graphics processing units designed by Intel for gaming, content creation, and professional applications. The graphics cards are manufactured under contract by TSMC and sold alongside Intel Graphics Technology, which consists of integrated graphics processors found in most Intel central processing units. [4]

TweakTown confirmed that the arc-rebar Linux utility specifically gives Intel Arc B580 graphics cards ReBAR support when installed on older motherboard platforms. The software modification provides an alternative path for Linux users running legacy system hardware. [2]
