CNBC Tech reported that the Secretary of War branded the American AI company a national security supply chain risk. The designation followed Anthropic's refusal to allow its models to be used for mass surveillance of Americans. [1]

Anthropic is an American public benefit corporation based in San Francisco, California, led by chief executive officer Dario Amodei. The company develops a series of proprietary large language models under the Claude brand name, which are trained using a method called Constitutional AI. [1][5][8]
