Apple unveiled its new HomeView smart home display at its Welcome Home event on October 13, Digital Trends and Ars Technica reported. According to Digital Trends, Ars Technica, and The Verge, the device is priced at 299 dollars, while Mashable reported that Amazon lists preorders for 289 dollars and 99 cents. Digital Trends reported that preorders are open ahead of a November release. [1][3][4][5][8]

Digital Trends and Ars Technica both reported that the HomeView features a seven-inch touchscreen, while Digital Trends added that it includes an A18 processor, FaceTime, Siri features, and smart home controls. The Verge described the design as looking like a giant Apple Watch on a flatter metallic HomePod mini, while 9to5Mac noted its design similarities to the iMac G4. [1][2][3][4][8]

Digital Trends reported that the device cannot natively run several of Apple's own services, including Apple TV, Apple Books audiobooks, Apple Music Classical, and Apple News Plus. To access these services on the display, users must stream content from a connected iPhone using AirPlay. [3]

As FTMQ Tech reported earlier, the HomeView connects with Apple's ecosystem to expand its presence in the smart home market. Apple Home uses the HomeKit framework and the Matter standard to allow users to automate and control smart appliances through Siri or the Home app. [13][14]
