Apple plans to unveil new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models featuring touch-enabled OLED displays on Wednesday, October 28, Bloomberg reported. MacRumors and 9to5Mac also reported that Apple will announce touchscreen MacBooks this week, ending decades of resistance to touchscreens on its laptop line. Invited guests will attend a Pro and Tell event in Los Angeles at 10 a.m. Pacific Time, where hands-on time is expected following a press release announcement. [1][4][5]

The upcoming touchscreen MacBook Pro models will carry a premium price tag, according to 9to5Mac. Digital Trends reported that the addition of premium touchscreen laptops and OLED displays will expand Apple's MacBook lineup across more price points, performance levels, and display technologies. [2][5]

Apple is also expected to announce a new iMac and an updated 14-inch MacBook Pro model powered by the M6 chip, according to reports from MacRumors and The Apple Post. The M6 chip previously debuted in the Mac mini in August, MacRumors reported. [6][8]

The MacBook Pro is the high-end model of the MacBook line, sitting above the MacBook Air and the entry-level MacBook Neo. Introduced in 2006, it is currently sold in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes using Apple M-series processors. [9]
