Google updates Gemini app side panel and settings interface on Android
Google has rolled out a redesigned side panel and settings layout for its Gemini app on Android devices.

Google has updated the Gemini application on Android with a new layout for its side panel and settings, 9to5Google reported on October 23, 2026. The changes follow an earlier update known as Spark to Task. In the revised interface, Google relocated the search feature to the top right corner of the screen. [1]
According to 9to5Google, the side panel menu keeps New chat as the top option, while Library now sits second instead of near the bottom. To prevent navigation clutter, the app shows five recent items before placing remaining entries under a expandable More option. Users with an AI Ultra subscription see a full list containing options such as New chat, Library, Images, Scheduled, Daily brief, Customize, Students, Videos, and Gems. [1]
Google first announced Gemini in December 2023 as an artificial intelligence model available in multiple sizes, including an Ultra tier for complex tasks and a lightweight Nano variant designed for on-device processing on supported Android hardware. [9]
