Samsung may feature DC dimming technology on the screens of its upcoming Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra smartphones, GSM Arena reported. The outlet noted that leaks suggest Samsung Display is preparing to begin manufacturing displays for the new lineup. Current models, including the Galaxy S26 Ultra, rely on traditional pulse-width modulation to regulate screen brightness. [1]

The new display technology is expected to be restricted to the higher-tier Pro and Ultra variants for now, GSM Arena reported. Separate coverage from Mashable noted that reports out of Korea indicate Samsung has already begun producing components for the upcoming series. Mashable added that the flagship lineup, which will include the Galaxy S27, S27 Plus, and S27 Ultra, is likely to be released in February. [1][4]

The upcoming lineup follows previous releases from earlier in the year. Mashable reported that Samsung introduced its foldable lineup, consisting of the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Z Flip 8, in July. The company subsequently launched the lower-cost Galaxy S26 FE in August, according to Mashable. [4]

In separate developments concerning existing devices, 9to5Google reported that Samsung is rolling out its One UI 9 update based on Android 17 to supported Galaxy smartphones and tablets. Engadget noted that devices running One UI 9 include a dedicated Warranty and care menu inside the Settings app to help users check their coverage details. [3][6]
