WhatsApp announced in a blog post this week that it is rolling out four new features aimed at making group chats easier to manage, 9to5Mac reported. The update includes a new button designed to help users stay on top of active conversations. [1]

According to 9to5Mac, the filter drawer that appears when users swipe down on the conversation list will now feature a Mentions and replies option. Tapping this button filters the chat list to display only unread group conversations. [1]

The new option joins existing filter controls such as Groups, Favorites, Unread, and custom filters, 9to5Mac reported. These tools are designed to help users organise their incoming messages more efficiently. [1]

WhatsApp is an instant messaging and voice calling platform owned by Meta Platforms that was launched in May 2009. The service requires a cellular mobile telephone number to register and had 3 billion monthly active users as of May 2025. [2][3]
