Artificial intelligence startup Anthropic filed its initial public offering prospectus on Monday, October 26, 2026. CNBC reported that the creator of the Claude assistant is five years old and could pursue one of the largest stock offerings in history. Bloomberg Tech and the Financial Times both reported that the filing highlights rapid growth alongside high development spending and steep financial losses. [1][2][7][8]

The Financial Times reported that the prospectus is 240,000 words long and outlines significant risk factors. TechCrunch reported that more than half of Anthropic's customers who spend over $100,000 now use both the Claude Platform and a first-party application, relying on a strategy to retain enterprise clients. [5][6][7]

As FTMQ Tech reported earlier, major technology firms have faced increasing investor scrutiny over rising capital expenditures and whether heavy investment in artificial intelligence is delivering financial returns. The general boom in generative artificial intelligence technologies began in the mid-2010s and accelerated through the 2020s, driven by large language models that generate text and code. [12][14]

CNBC reported that investors are evaluating the company for a potential market capitalization measured in the trillions of dollars. CNBC added that the stock debut comes at a critical time for Wall Street and the broader technology sector as interest rates rise and overall artificial intelligence trading has slowed down recently.
