OnePlus has begun rolling out the stable ColorOS 17 software update based on Android 17 to its OnePlus 15 flagship smartphones, GSM Arena reported on October 25. TelecomTalk, Tech Insider, and Nokiamob also reported on the rollout of the stable software release. GSM Arena noted that the software carries the build number CPH2745_17.0.0.102(EX01). [1][2][3][4]
The release replaces OxygenOS on the device. GSM Arena reported that OnePlus confirmed in July that all eligible OnePlus hardware across all regions will transition from OxygenOS to ColorOS alongside the Android 17 update. However, GSM Arena specified that the current rollout of the stable update is limited to users in India for the time being. [1]
OnePlus initially established itself as a flagship killer brand by offering high specifications at lower price points. The company built notable market share in the premium smartphone segment in India, although it faced criticism for software issues such as app performance throttling in 2021 and display anomalies. The transition comes as other manufacturers update their software ecosystems. As FTMQ Tech reported earlier, Samsung recently began rolling out its own Android 17-based One UI 9 software update, which introduced visual adjustments and new artificial intelligence capabilities to compatible Galaxy smartphones and tablets.
